For the Mulberry Park community centre in Foxhill, Bath.
The table is sited on what was the Ralph Allen estate, the man responsible for the mining of the characteristic ‘bathstone’ (oolite) used in this area in the 1700s. While the familiar site of yellow bathstone dominates the main city, little can be seen of it used in the area where the table is sited. The map that was finally used for the design of the table was the first survey of the land that noted the fir tree forests used as props in the mine tunnels.
The artwork is awaiting its final locating within the large new housing complex. Thanks to Curo Homes for this commission and to Suzanne Heath for coordinating the project.
