Each Split Box is created from a single log split into four unequal pieces. The resulting box is highly irregular but also always perfectly complete as the combined angles total 360 degrees. The resulting arrangement of boxes is chaotic yet ordered. Imperfect yet perfectly complete.
I’ve made the Split Boxes at several different public events in museums around the world. Each time using locally sourced woods. Design Miami (mango), Design Museum Holon, Israel (eucalyptus), Stavanger, Norway (Christmas trees), 21-21 Design Sight, Tokyo (Hinoki).
The Split Boxes are in many collections including Design Museum Holon, Paul Smith in Milan and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
