These pieces are part of the Split series in which a randomly split log is used to create the corners of a structure. The arrangements follows the geometric principle that the angles of a shape divided into parts will always total 360 degrees. Always perfectly complete no matter how irregular.
The commissioned pieces here use slatted skeletal wood with log corners. The word ‘LENT’ is a word play on the Christian festival where food is used up in cupboards, but also ‘LENT’ is to lean. In the lower project, the left over timber from my studio was used up at the end of the year.
Many thanks to Tools Galerie, Paris, and Thomas Dane Gallery, London.
